Contrary to the name, Collision King is more than a body shop. Not only can they bring your wrecked car back from the dead, they also offer a full-service mechanic shop.
“We’re a one stop shop, anything that the car needs is here,” said Allen of Collision King, “whether it’s body work, mechanical, tires, mufflers, electrical, we can do it.”
Collision King has been at 5675 W. Tidwell Rd. since 1999, with earlier locations in Oak Forest and on Pinemont since 1982. Its current location is about 18,000 square-feet and sits on four and half acres, conveniently near the crossroads of Tidwell and Antoine.
They specialize in complete auto body repair services, like paintless dent repair, down-draft painting, structural repair, and glass installation. On the mechanical side they take care of any A/C problems, brake repairs, electrical systems, oil changes, wheel alignment, engines, transmissions and more.
The technicians are ASE and I-CAR factory trained and certified. The shop itself is certified by many manufacturers; including, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai, Chrysler, Jeep, Fiat, Infiniti and more.
As a part of the Tow And Go program in Houston, they help clear the freeways of any stalled vehicles, but if you find yourself in need on the side of the road Collision King has a 24/7 towing service and free shuttle available.
It’s important to get your car checked regularly to avoid breaking down, especially if you have out of town plans for the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.
“If any of [the car functions] break down on the road, you’re pretty much stranded” said Mazen Stieh of Collision King, “Your vacation is ruined, so how about bringing in the car before you leave so that we can make sure it’s road worthy.”
Here’s what you should get checked before hitting the road:
Check the oil level and make sure your oil change is up to date, but your engine oil isn’t the only oil you need to pay attention to. Don’t forget to check both the transmission and drive axle supply and you can find their change intervals in your owner’s manual. Hoses and belts can both deteriorate quicker than expected and if your car is older than two years, check the engine coolant.
Since your tires are in constant contact with the pavement, it’s always a good idea to examine the tire pressure and tread. The brake system and battery should be looked at just in case. And it never hurts to simply take the car on the freeway with only the intention of listening for potential problems.
Collision King believes it’s better to be safe than sorry, so stop in and let them check out your car before you hit the road.
They also get involved in the community. The past two years near Christmas time, Collision Kings has given away a free vehicle to someone in need. Last year a mother with cancer received a car, and the year before that a single mother did.
They plan to continue to contribute the community this year as well.
