I completely agree! Since my in-depth exposure to HISD in 2003 through Leadership Houston, I’ve thought the District was a complete scam. And it’s just gotten worse and worse. I generally don’t resent paying taxes — HISD is the exception. I hope the state will take over, blow up the Board and staff leadership, and start from scratch.

It’s time for the state to take over HISD
While wondering when “our” representative will start yelling “Impeach me! Impeach me!” I noticed your front page photo Oct. 20 tells it all: two HISD instigator skool bored troublemakers in the foreground and the scapegoat way off to their right.
I’m glad Abe came to his senses and backed away from being the interim scapegoat. Beyond ramming their name change agendas down Houston’s throats, they haven’t a clue how a school board is supposed to work. Raise property taxes is their answer (Blame shifters).
While listening to KTSU last night, I was pleased to hear a commentator say he did not care if members of the board “dislike” each other – the children should not have to suffer from their petty squabbles.
Bring in the state and kick this loser board out – they couldn’t do any worse!

Lynn Ashby should relocate to California
Having been born and raised in the Heights, and living in the Oak Forest area for over 60 years, I have a few comments about The Leader.
I knew Lee Burge the Leader founder when his office was 12’ x 12’ square behind the Oak Forest Barbershop. Lee was a hustler in his business as myself and many others were. Although I had many conversations with him regarding Squatty Lyons, Louie Welch and others. He also knew of some “bad” happenings around the area he never printed them.
On the contrary your Lynn Ashby doesn’t seem to see anything good about our area, city, state or federal governments. Many of these comments probably made by unfounded truths. I read that his home was flooded by Harvey and he had to relocate. I wonder why he didn’t move to the bankrupt state of California, where he would be over the guidance of Jerry, Dianne, Nancy, Maxine and others of their kind.
In closing, I suspect his diatribe may have something to do with the Leader’s demise!
Craft brewers located in The Leader area
Lol. Malgorithm alert! Why am I seeing an ad for an addiction center in Dallas attached to this story?
Is there room to debate whether Karbach should be on the list as a Craft Brewery since they are owned by AB-InBev?
