For The Leader
Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit & Run Competition Comes to Constellation Field for the First Time
The Sugar Land Skeeters are excited to host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for youth in the Houston area on April 25 at 9 a.m. at Constellation Field. Participants are encouraged to complete all required registration forms prior to arrival at the ballpark, as only a limited number of registration forms will be available at the ballpark.
“We’re extremely excited to host the Pitch, Hit & Run competition this year,” Skeeters General Manager Chris Jones said. “We believe this to be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the young talent in the Houston area and can’t wait to get the event underway.”
Pitch, Hit & Run, presented by Scotts, is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete free of charge in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball and softball skills.
Boys and girls will be divided into four age divisions (7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14) and have the opportunity to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2015 MLB All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age and gender group at the Skeeters’ event will advance to the Sectional Level of Competition hosted in Wharton.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Please email Carlos Rodriguez, Local Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org with all required paperwork prior to arrival at Constellation Field. For any questions concerning the event, please call Carlos at 281-207-9151.
The Skeeters open up 2015 on Thursday, April 23, against the Lancaster Barnstormers. Season tickets and special game plans are still available for the 2015 campaign. Sign up today by calling the box office at 281-240-4487 to join the swarm.
