It appears to have been another successful bike rally and scavenger hunt for the Houston Heights Association (HHA), and a number of area residents wound up winners last weekend.
The HHA held an encore bicycle rally from Oct. 2-4, starting from the Heights Fire Station at 107 W. 12th St. and setting out on the event’s 5-mile and 15-mile routes. The first bike rally of the year was held over Memorial Day weekend.
While announcing the scavenger hunt winners via Facebook on Tuesday, HHA Executive Director Emily Guyre said a total of 415 people participated in the encore rally.
Out of the 200 participants in the 15-mile event, Katie Shephard won the grand prize by virtue of a tiebreaker. After tying with Rubena Gracia by guessing correctly on 49 of the 60 clues provided, Shephard guessed the combined weight of all the pumpkins on the route to win first place – a $250 gift card to Blue Line Bike Lab at 1504 Yale St.
Gracia won a $150 gift card to Blue Line, while third-place winner Shelley Finley received a $50 gift card.
In the 5-mile event, the Price family was the first-place winner among 215 participants, receiving a $50 gift card to Blue Line. Second-place finisher Norman Ritchie was the winner of a $25 gift card to A 2nd Cup coffee shop, and third-place winner Stacy Upchurch got a $15 gift card to Red Dessert Dive bakery.
