St. Pius X High School has hired Jeff Feller as its new athletic director.
“When we met Jeff, we knew that his positive attitude and ‘can do’ spirit was going to be a great fit here at St. Pius X,” Head of School Carmen Garrett Armistead said in a statement released by the school. “Looking at his list of accomplishments, we know that Jeff is going to hit the ground running providing vision, organization and long-term planning to make our athletic program one of the best in the Houston area. We are thrilled to have him become a Panther.”
Feller began his career as the sports director for Ambler Area YMCA in Philadelphia. A few years later, he began his education career at Roberts Vaux High School while teaching physical education and coaching girls basketball. Under his watch, Roberts Vaux was a finalist to receive $25,000 from the Henkel Helps Kids Get Fit program – a national fitness-based health initiative.
In 2012, Feller made the move to Houston and to KIPP Texas Public Schools as the founding athletic director at KIPP Generations Collegiate. In addition to serving as athletic director, he was a health and physical education teacher while coaching football, baseball, softball and track and field.
Feller has served as the regional athletic director for KIPP for the past three years, leading athletic programs for five highs schools, 11 middle schools and eight primary schools. He resides in League City with his wife and two children.
“I am absolutely honored to become a part of the Panther family,” he said. “I am looking forward to working with the administration, teachers, parents, coaches and students to create a vision and plan to continue the proud academic and athletic tradition at St. Pius X.”
