Waltrip High School’s band is seeking help from the community so its members can enjoy another one-of-a-kind experience.
The band, which recently performed at Disney World in Florida, is hoping to send more than 80 students to a leadership conference from June 16-20 at Texas A&M University-Commerce. The latter event has become an annual trip for band members to learn about music, marching and leadership.
Assistant band director Dan Ferreira said the cost is nearly $400 per student, and the band also needs to provide transportation to and from Commerce, which is a four-hour drive from Houston. He said the band is short on the money required for for the trip, so donations are welcome.
Checks can be made out and delivered to the Waltrip Ram Band Booster Club, which also will accept cash donations. Money also can be donated through the band’s Paypal or Venmo accounts, information for which can be found on the band’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WHSRamBand/.
