Houston police are searching for two suspects who they say robbed and assaulted a woman outside an Oak Forest Kroger Thursday night.
Shortly after 9 p.m., an 18-year-old female victim told police that she was pumping gas at the Kroger at 1352 W. 43rd St. when two black males wearing ski masks over their faces approached her.
“As soon as she saw them, she got into the passenger side of her vehicle,” Houston Police Department spokesperson John Cannon said. “When that happened, that’s when the two suspects ran over and got into the driver’s side, when they punched her several times and demanded the keys to her car.”
Cannon said when the victim refused to relinquish her keys, the suspects, described as being in their early 30s, stole several unspecified items before fleeing westbound toward the store.
According to Cannon, the victim was left with a cut to her lip and several red marks on the side of her face as the result of the attack.
HPD’s robbery division will follow up on the incident, and Cannon said police will review surveillance video from the store to see if the attack was caught on tape. Police used a helicopter while searching surrounding neighborhoods but could not locate the suspects.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspects is encouraged to call HPD at 713-308-0700 or the Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-521-4600.
